PURO is derived from the Belgian family company Miko, which has been in existence for over 200 years. They take pride in roasting their coffees every day using traditional methods: slowly, until the heart of the coffee bean is reached.
PURO coffees and teas come from fair trade cooperatives that bring together hundreds of small-scale producers. PURO is involved in various social initiatives in different countries, such as:
- Providing support to 50,000 Fairtrade coffee producers in the Democratic Republic of Congo to boost their productivity and reinvest the money into education, healthcare, and agricultural support.
- Planting, maintaining, and growing trees on the grounds of disadvantaged schools in South Africa.
- Contributing to the purchase and protection of tropical forests in Malaysia and preserving local wildlife and flora.
